Sometimes a culture pushes certain ideas because they are more convenient and require less sacrifice. For this reason, many families don’t necessarily welcome children if they are conceived close together. For some, their option of choice is to abort the second baby.

It was a personal thrill for me, recently, to hear a young Indian woman tell her story. In their family, after more than a 15-year gap, her mother got pregnant again. The mother was inclined to abort this little one, but the daughter, knowing the value of each human life and the wonder of fetal development, persuaded her mom to cherish the baby, and a lovely young son was born. The daughter relayed how happy they were to have a new little person in their family.
